With the pandemic putting a hold on overseas travel for the foreseeable future, many companies are offering cheap deals to redeem later.

However, people are being warned to read the fine print before paying for anything, as unexpected border closures might not guarantee a full refund.

"When something goes wrong on such a big scale not everyone gets what they want, how they want," consumer advocate Christopher Zimm said.

There's one deal that offers seven nights in an all-inclusive resort for just $999 per person.

And people are allowed to buy now and travel up until the end of 2022.

"Are they too good to be true?" Mr Zimm said.
