Huawei Unveils Its Latest Phones, the Huawei P30, and Huawei P30 Pro

New Huawei phone models, the Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro were recently unveiled at a press conference in Paris by the Chinese mobile maker. This launch goes a long way to show that the Chinese mobile technology company wouldn’t stop until it is seen to be at par with its rivals, Samsung and Apple.

Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro

In the course of the official launching, the company made it crystal clear that their design of these phones is inspired by the beauty of nature. According to interestingengineering.com the CEO of Huawei, Richard Yu said that one of the company’s main focus, was a dedication to new camera technology. He spoke about elements of Huawei’s development of artificial intelligence and the 5G network. Tech Crunch claims these phones have a hole-punch design and this year’s notch is smaller than the previous year. It says that the company has turned from an iPhone X-like notch to a tiny little notch. And Huawei is gradually removing the unusual-looking bezel and integrating the fingerprint sensor into the display like what Samsung did to its 3-set phone.

Design

In both phones, there is just a tiny round hole-punch in the middle of the top since. This way, you have the whole to use. In terms of screens, the P30 gets the same OLED tech as the Pro, mainly because they now both have in-screen fingerprint sensors. The only difference between them is the size, which are 6.1 inches for the P30 and 6.47inches for the Pro. Huawei didn't put a traditional speaker at the top of the P30 Pro as it does on the P30. Instead, it vibrates the screen itself. The P30 Pro is still narrower than the iPhone XR.

Camera

When it comes to cameras, Huawei has always been one of the leading smartphone manufacturers. There are only four brands that ship cameras that perform so well — Apple, Samsung, Google, and Huawei.

It’s going to be hard to comment on the quality of the photos after so little hands-on time, but the P30 Pro now features not one, not two, not three but four sensors on the back of the device although the P30 has 3 rear facing cameras.

The main camera is a 40 MP 27mm sensor with an f/1.6 aperture and optical image stabilization. There’s a 20 MP ultra-wide angle lens (16mm) with an f/2.2 aperture. The 8 MP telephoto lens provides nearly 5x optical zoom compared to the main lens (125mm) with an f/3.4 aperture and optical image stabilization. There’s a new time-of-flight sensor below the flash of the P30 Pro. The phone projects infrared light and captures the reflection with this new sensor.

Performance

The P30 and P30 Pro chipset are the Kirin 980, which is built using the same super-efficient 7nm architecture as the Snapdragon 855 you'll find in the US versions of the Samsung Galaxy S10 and the Xiaomi Mi 9.The P30 Pro is a fast phone, one that could handle everything thrown at it during the review process. The P30 has 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage capacity and a 3,650 mAh battery but the P30 Pro has a larger 4,200 mAh battery, 8GB of RAM and 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB to choose from.

Pricing

Huawei P30 costs €799 ($900), while the P30 Pro costs €999 ($1,125), €1,099 ($1,250), and €1,249 ($1400) for the 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB flagships respectively.
