Firefighter injured after Scarborough fire

Fire crews spent the early hours of Monday morning battling two separate fires.

A blaze in a commercial building in Scarborough started around 2:26 a.m.

The fire broke out in the front office of a catering business and was quickly upgraded to a five-alarm, as flames continued to advance after crews arrived on scene.

One firefighter sustained minor injuries to their hand as a result.

The fire was too dense for crews to enter, said Toronto Fire Capt. Adrian Ratushniak. Crews were forced to battle the flames from outside.

Crockford Ave. remains closed while crews continue their efforts to contain the fire.

The other fire happened at an apartment building in North York, near Jane and Finch. One woman was seriously injured.
